Trader Joe’s is coming to Sarasota, FL trader joe's is coming to sarasota

The Sarasota Herald reported this morning that the popular grocery store chain Trader Joe’s is opening their second Florida store in Sarasota. Trader Joe’s confirmed this week that they will be opening a store at the former Rooms To Go furniture store location at 4101 South Tamiami Trail which is just south of Bee Ridge Road and across the street from the Best Buy and Barnes and Noble shopping plaza.  Rooms To Go built and moved to a larger store further south on Tamiami Trail this past year.

trader joe's is coming to sarasotaSarasota is the second Trader Joe’s location in Florida, their first is in Naples, Florida. Trader Joe’s has become one of the most profitable retailers in the country based on square footage selling space according to retailer selling standards.

Trade Joe’s first opened in Pasadena, California in 1967 and that store is still there today.  Having gained the reputation of selling California wines, in the 1960’s they sold every California wine there was.  Today Trader Joe’s is a privately held company with 365 stores that cover 32 states.

What is Trader Joe's as written on their website:

How is shopping at Trader Joe's different from what you may be used to in a supermarket?

At Trader Joe's, you won't find a lot of branded items. Instead, you'll find unconventional and interesting products in the Trader Joe's label as well as everyday basics. We buy products we think are winners and that'll find a following among our customers. Sometimes it's a product we intend to stock as long as it sells well; and sometimes we buy a product which is in limited supply, sell through it, and you won't find it again. It's all part of the shopping adventure at Trader Joe's.

Sarasota continues to attract the attention of national retailers and is growing with companies such as Costco, Whole Foods, a new Lowe’s and Kohl’s stores now open in Palmer Ranch, the new high end University Towne Center that is being built at University and I-75, and more new home construction being planned for Palmer Ranch. See my recent article:
Palmer Ranch is Growing with Homes, Jobs, and Businesses
Housing prices have adjusted to what they where 10 years ago and the buyers have decided that Sarasota is the place to be in Florida.  This is all evidence that Sarasota has passed the bottoming out of the housing recession and is growing again.
