Siesta Key Beach Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Contest

This years 4th annual Siesta Key Beach - Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Contest is taking place on Siesta Key Beach from November 15-18, 2013.  This has become an annual event that attracts 20 Master Sand Sculptors and over 35,000 attendees to Siesta Key Beach from around the world.

Starting Friday November 15, from 9-5 and continuing through Monday.  There will be a Vendors Village, Sand Sculpting Demonstrations, Live Music, Amateur Contests, Volleyball Competition, Shuttles for Parking and above all else 20 Master Sand Sculptors creating sand art some as high as ten feet tall.  Judging will take place on Sunday from 12:30-1:30 with an awards ceremony on Sunday from 3:00-4:00.

This years Sarasota Chalk Festival is being held for 10 days from October 28th - November 6th in Downtown Sarasota.  Come and see over 500 Artist create 2D and 3D chalk images on the roads of Downtown Sarasota, with this years theme of "Circus City, USA".  There will be performance stages that will also highlight music, drama, dance, magic, acrobatic, and aerial performances.

Beggar the Dolphin near Casey KeyThis past Friday September 21 the beloved "Beggar" the dolphin was found floating in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Albee Road Bridge to Casey Key.  Beggar, named for his constant begging for food and attention from boaters for the past 20 years has been a Sarasota icon and a natural tourist attraction for boaters  near the Albee Road Bridge.  This bottled nose dolphin could be seen daily in the no-wake zone swimming up along side every boat looking for a free hand out.  Feeding and petting dolphins is punishable with up to a $100,000 fine and possible up to a year in jail under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

This past weekend was the 2nd annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Contest,  held on the world famous #1 rated Siesta Key Beach  in Sarasota, Florida.  Siesta Key Beach was recently chosen as the #1 Beach in America by Dr. Stephen Leatherman (a.k.a.) Dr. Beach.  Dr. Leatherman is the Director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research.

The Siesta Key Crystal classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition November 18th to the 21st.   Siesta Key Beach in partnership with Mote Marine, The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, Sand Lubbers, and Sarasota County is proud to announce the 1st annual Crystal Classic Master Sand Sans Sculpting contest with over $25,000 in prize money.  The proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Mote Marine’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research program.

Sandcastles on Siesta Key Beach

This past Saturday on Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida was the annual sandcastles contest.  Every year they have an organized contest.
