Palmer Ranch is one of the more exclusive and popular areas to live in Sarasota, Florida. The Palmer Ranch area covers over 10,000 acres and was original purchased in 1910 by the late Bertha Honore Palmer, a wealthy socialite business woman from Chicago. Mrs. Palmer used the area for orange groves and cattle farming. Today only a few heads of cattle remain in some still left farming pastures. This farming area has now become what they call a master planned community of 30 different neighborhoods and communities.
